Now on Earth Youth Adventure Grant

Mavin Powercube are supporting a new Youth Adventure Grant – and our team are fundraising!

Mavin Powercube are proud supporters of the Now on Earth Youth Adventure Grant and Mavin team member Chloe is raising funds for the grant with a fastpacking expedition – ‘Yomping the Hajar’ – across the wild western Hajar mountains of Oman.

Raising money for an adventure grant by having an adventure – Chloe and her fastpacking partner-in-crime are hoping to be the first all female team to fastpack a traverse of the Western Hajar. Fastpacking is a mix of hiking and trail running, carrying lightweight kit. Self-supported, travelling as light as possible, sending food ahead for collection en-route, the team will be wild camping some nights, interspersed with village BnB / small hotel stays, for approx 2 weeks, covering a little under 200km. Following a variety of tracks often requiring GPS navigation, they’ll be crossing two mountain summits on the route, including Jebel Shams, the highest peak in the Hajar.

They are raising money for the Now on Earth Youth Adventure Grant, which is aimed at supporting young adults aged 18-24 undertaking their first adventurous expedition. We at Mavin, along with Now on Earth, believe that adventure can have a hugely positive and long-term impact on self-confidence, resilience and fulfilment. The grant hopes to give some young people the opportunity to challenge themselves on their first adventure, by offering some financial support for their endeavours. Money should not, after all, be a barrier to attempting what could be a transformational life experience! By offering small grants Now on Earth hope to make these adventures more accessible to more young people.

Chloe said; “I’m super excited to be taking on this challenge and trying to raise funds for the grant. We’re facing an unprecedented mental health crisis. There is a growing body of evidence which suggests that adventure and challenge are essential to our wellbeing. I’m a big advocate of the #adventurerevolution. By giving young people the opportunity to challenge themselves, adventure can lead them to uncover new perspectives, develop stronger social connections, lessen anxiety, increase self-belief, and access deeper levels of resilience.”
